Best Appetizers Ever

Best Appetizers Ever

Appetizers should seem simple enough.  Its basically a small bite full of flavor which keeps the hunger of a diner or dinner guest at bay until the big guns come out like the dinner course.  For me, I can easily make a meal out of 2 or 3 appetizers in place of a dinner entree.  My favorite appetizer experience ever, anywhere, is always a Pu Pu Platter commonly served at Chinese, Polynesian and Tiki style restaurants.  Here you get the full array of flavors and delights that almost certainly can outshine the main course.

There are always some incredibly creative appetizers I wish I could create on my own, and often they are so simple you can, but here is my running list of the most incredibly creative and delicious appetizers I’ve ever had (details of where to get them to follow, but here is the list for now to get your tastebuds excited):

  1. Irish Spring Roll – Cloverleaf Tavern, Caldwell NJ
  2. Fritto Misto – Eataly, 23rd & Broadway, New York, NY
  3. Grilled Baby Octopus – Don Pepe, Pine Brook, NY
  4. House-Cured Bacon – Prime 13, Point Pleasant NJ
  5. Carne de Porco à Alentejana (Portuguese cubed pork, clams, potatoes)
  6. Calamari with Hot Cherry Peppers – Morris Tap & Ale, Randolph, NJ
  7. Buffalo Chicken & Bacon Dip – Morris Tap & Ale, Randolph, NJ
  8. Bacon-wrapped Sea Scallops
  9. Lobster Roll Slider
  10. Gourmet Pigs in a Blanket
